The company's initial name was Bank Liman International, which was founded in 1991, owned by several individuals, this bank was threatened to go down to becoming a BPR bank, because the bank's capital did not reach Rp100 billion.

Eventually the bank was acquired by Nio Yantony (in his personal name, not a company), along with several other individuals who controlled more than 70% of the bank's shares. After this acquisition, the name of the bank officially changed to Bank Dinar Indonesia in 2012.
